This year I'll be following both the official Inktober prompt list and the Doomtober one, picking and choosing which one I prefer for each day. I'm also hoping to do little pencil sketches for the Scrawltober prompts if I have time :)</p><p>Here's my take on Day One - Gargoyle. I think she maybe needs a drag name - how about "Lady GaGa-Goyle"? </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgj9nMjbQhbQY7IaeldAJa5B6JkaUtVP-6Kn5VAbQfpXxF8KvvirDfPfF1XiEQ6UWIEf5DW22jHRezsAGNJSADCYweCIrVx1rsXn5lXceb241NOyiwNYFgGLRag2eM_yYjsKfQ6pJS8zgisgpCk7_uFPbxeliT2492oKWAKMThaAk1pol-EJoliaEb0/s8000/IMG20220927104640.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="8000" data-original-width="6000" height="468" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgj9nMjbQhbQY7IaeldAJa5B6JkaUtVP-6Kn5VAbQfpXxF8KvvirDfPfF1XiEQ6UWIEf5DW22jHRezsAGNJSADCYweCIrVx1rsXn5lXceb241NOyiwNYFgGLRag2eM_yYjsKfQ6pJS8zgisgpCk7_uFPbxeliT2492oKWAKMThaAk1pol-EJoliaEb0/w351-h468/IMG20220927104640.jpg" width="351" /></a></div><p>I've prepped all my backgrounds and titles ahead of time, to give myself a fighting chance to keep up for the whole month. After masking off the square, I just splashed on india ink in random colours with lots of water, then when it was dry I added the titles with a fineliner. I've done lots of sketches ready as well, so hopefully I will be able to keep up. </p><p>If you're doing Inktober this year, I'd love to see your take on the challenge - please let me know where you post your pics, or feel free to join the<a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/1096560787641541" target="_blank"> Arty Farty Annie FB group</a> and share your creations on there.</p><p>Thanks for popping in today, see you again soon :)</p><p>Annie xo</p>Annie Claxtonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05388444203672449777noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1265373721678053795.post-16575117957102596102022-09-28T16:18:00.001+01:002022-09-28T16:18:11.974+01:00Wreck This Journal - Layered Leaves<p>Hello and welcome back to my craft room blog.</p><p>Decided to give my busy head a rest today with a really quick page in my Wreck This Journal. I'm really not doing very well at keeping up with my blog am I? It's not that I haven't been doing anything creative, it's just that I haven't made the time to blog about it and I'm annoyed with myself! :)</p><p>Since I last posted on here in June, I have been very busy on my You Tube channel and Instagram, where I post videos and pictures several times a week, but this blog is more like a journal for myself, where I can record my arty-farty adventures to look back on later, so I'm going to make another effort to keep it up.</p><p>To catch up a little bit, I'm going to post something on here every day, covering some of the different things I've been working on over the last few weeks and months - just for the record ...</p><p>Wreck This Journal continues to be a favourite, especially when I feel like just playing. Here's one I did back in June, inspired by a page posted on Instagram by @clair96bel -</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgk4z_gGFpl0dpN_7KgTcLK3cw3fWs6ezTc-QPSwlbkQKqWoBgvXalbymY1Ggf_wLQsihd9RRqetXDhczwdIz3J_rTxCQnHu6J-4Tkw3JgPahycvMT-vALa3IO7989W9LO3kKXWR3_VAavR4tFtF1srC6ZQ1JndIJLNWFMx6JoELF043mUSR4St1KaD/s4000/IMG20220619091639.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3000" data-original-width="4000" height="384" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgk4z_gGFpl0dpN_7KgTcLK3cw3fWs6ezTc-QPSwlbkQKqWoBgvXalbymY1Ggf_wLQsihd9RRqetXDhczwdIz3J_rTxCQnHu6J-4Tkw3JgPahycvMT-vALa3IO7989W9LO3kKXWR3_VAavR4tFtF1srC6ZQ1JndIJLNWFMx6JoELF043mUSR4St1KaD/w512-h384/IMG20220619091639.jpg" width="512" /></a></div><p>The prompt was, "Use this as a test page for every colour you can get your hands on" and Clair had the idea of creating a test card like we used to see on the telly between programmes years ago. I thought this was a fab idea, so that's my take on it.</p><p>It ended up taking quite a time, but I really enjoyed using lots of different media - paint pens, highlighter markers, matt graphite and coloured pencils - and I think it ended up looking fun and colourful in my WTJ :)</p><p>Thanks for popping in today, see you again soon! </p><p>Annie xo</p><p><br /></p>Annie Claxtonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05388444203672449777noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1265373721678053795.post-41511908873685225742022-06-18T12:15:00.001+01:002022-06-18T12:15:00.187+01:00Technicolour Seascape<p> Hello and welcome to my craft-room blog, </p><p>Yesterday I tried another class from the Art Bundle For Good #6 - this one was with Jenny Buchanan from <a href="https://bluebeachhouseart.com/" target="_blank">Blue Beach House Art</a> and it was my first ever go at a seascape ...</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJD22AnSLPG16t8Upe-bVN15g7RQWp8SpzyZXD3ZyXaX4RaYJWtocGRCAP0s6OgJMvaT4sf2xY06ytxa0wTrx_9_soPNm1TGYvDG2V-Ii_g7pvoMHHVs-mJoF9phjG_ig235f3NgYSi6AgrmYxJV-8_tzMeoFqQOvFJgAq3Yz15cgfMkdNLkz6GOKs/s3610/IMG20220616170012.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3610" data-original-width="2743" height="461" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJD22AnSLPG16t8Upe-bVN15g7RQWp8SpzyZXD3ZyXaX4RaYJWtocGRCAP0s6OgJMvaT4sf2xY06ytxa0wTrx_9_soPNm1TGYvDG2V-Ii_g7pvoMHHVs-mJoF9phjG_ig235f3NgYSi6AgrmYxJV-8_tzMeoFqQOvFJgAq3Yz15cgfMkdNLkz6GOKs/w350-h461/IMG20220616170012.jpg" width="350" /></a></div><p>This was such an enjoyable class and full of tips about colour-mixing, blending and different brush techniques. You try to tell yourself that it's not the outcome that matters, the point is to enjoy the process and learn from it etc etc. - you know this, but it's still frustrating and can knock you confidence. Well, that's what happened to me the other day.</p><p>So I had to get back on the metaphorical horse and create something I was happy with so I thought a lovely relaxing class with Tamara Laporte from <a href="https://www.willowing.org/">Willowing Arts </a>would be just the ticket. It worked like a charm - Tam makes it all so easy and when I was done I felt completely chilled and very happy with my picture ...</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLsys0tvMAOs6v_pxHUwX3N0GrI1Oh4Tj1kJRC1yyILF8aUOQbyXZeL_qFCnS9tNfyeE4sOMbPjoqWP-ArYULLcj27ss0E2S-QvahHNI6DlD4eNRTJSeZYhiSKCm6zq_WD8PQIa9bDqk3WhXTHMeyeJhZzIiRuK_vgfrokn2asAQXxiC6CE8_l_ggL/s3011/IMG20220605121712.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3011" data-original-width="2271" height="388" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLsys0tvMAOs6v_pxHUwX3N0GrI1Oh4Tj1kJRC1yyILF8aUOQbyXZeL_qFCnS9tNfyeE4sOMbPjoqWP-ArYULLcj27ss0E2S-QvahHNI6DlD4eNRTJSeZYhiSKCm6zq_WD8PQIa9bDqk3WhXTHMeyeJhZzIiRuK_vgfrokn2asAQXxiC6CE8_l_ggL/w292-h388/IMG20220605121712.jpg" width="292" /></a></div><p>The whole process was quite meditative, building up the picture layer by layer without having to think too hard. I'm planning to get back into blogging, amongst other things - it's such a lovely way to keep a kind of journal of my arty-farty adventures. </p><p>My You Tube channel is a relatively new passion - I love to connect with people all over the world to share our creative hobbies and inspire each other. On Sunday, my son Tom and I did a live stream, making Trash Dolls. Huge thanks to everyone who joined in and made the chat so lively and fun. </p><p>Inspired by the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, here's Queenie, all finished ...</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAUYigS7UhgUY1kgcKh1nIg1hiM8vhBNeqGa9VDkyS5Y0_5J6Wgg-XZARSEeBIrf5mtaLUgurkqnf-UkOrxpdtnGpWomkevN4Lq4CH_OHQwHIgbUzFUOrfhRONpIYOUiQpFeKdGXpkXvmxDz80RcEFv_o7_eWc2-xWqDXahrxp8ehilLAEb9mRy9ax/s3710/IMG20220607125629.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3710" data-original-width="2970" height="380" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAUYigS7UhgUY1kgcKh1nIg1hiM8vhBNeqGa9VDkyS5Y0_5J6Wgg-XZARSEeBIrf5mtaLUgurkqnf-UkOrxpdtnGpWomkevN4Lq4CH_OHQwHIgbUzFUOrfhRONpIYOUiQpFeKdGXpkXvmxDz80RcEFv_o7_eWc2-xWqDXahrxp8ehilLAEb9mRy9ax/w304-h380/IMG20220607125629.jpg" width="304" /></a></div><p>If you would like to watch a replay of the live stream, <a href="https://youtu.be/LlKb-shQFk4" target="_blank">click this link</a>. Trina does a lot of dressmaking and I'm always so impressed with her makes, but I hardly ever get my machine out these days, so we decided it was high time to dust it off. </p><p>Trina made not one, but TWO lovely A-line skirts (forgot to take a picture to show you) and I made up a bag using a kit I bought from Cloth Atelier at the K&S Show last year ...</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjXlOLb0Pe1Y_oE3vxaxQCozxwom_hSr0vY96IESrvTqqgRuwIfgQLwrPq1O8Dd35EJTjhdTcaPpAslk5U_Y6QDp_Bp9UY0tWl8jCLXQUQ24T9GZ0CJkyMfsRtN7GR6zs39BqKJj8daehQtbSwS2MKFDqA24ql76krfqqy_mySfEq_yLEqYxr_VrbbO=s3036" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3036" data-original-width="3000" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjXlOLb0Pe1Y_oE3vxaxQCozxwom_hSr0vY96IESrvTqqgRuwIfgQLwrPq1O8Dd35EJTjhdTcaPpAslk5U_Y6QDp_Bp9UY0tWl8jCLXQUQ24T9GZ0CJkyMfsRtN7GR6zs39BqKJj8daehQtbSwS2MKFDqA24ql76krfqqy_mySfEq_yLEqYxr_VrbbO=s320" width="316" /></a></div><p>When you buy one of these kits, you are allowed to choose any two fat quarters of fabric from the beautiful selection they have on display. I decided to get two for the price of one, by using some scrap fabric from my stash - so this one was made from one of the Cloth Atelier fabrics and some material cut from an old top, and I still have the other fat quarter to use, so I can make another bag later. </p><p>My top stitching left a lot to be desired, so I cunningly disguised it by adding several lines of stitching along the handles and zigzag stitching around the top. I'm chuffed to bits with it and it was a great way to get me back into using my sewing machine :)</p><p>Thanks for popping in today, see you again soon!</p><p>Annie xo</p>Annie Claxtonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05388444203672449777noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1265373721678053795.post-36586391928180264022022-03-15T13:07:00.000+00:002022-03-15T13:07:00.413+00:00Create This Book Title Page - in which Yours Truly looks even odder than usual!<p> I love making quirky characters out of collaged papers which I cut from magazines and then using mixed media to add interest and colour. I really enjoyed pulling together all my supplies for the project, probably waaaaaaay more than I need ...</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhgBldgphNGumycZHoe56C4-JCb1VcJ-Lwd13X4chm8nf1JjegOhR_9IaP2qGlZr41A0YH095faIL-v146BEwhRQjJ8tj8nY-vhu5KVW-uaOGpD3D2-mYRJnBvBIOecd5IPEk7k_5rkI0_qtV4S2uyv9-cBY9Bl1_YzDopgQTC0SGrVgJUA0TCABfEi=s2561" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1778" data-original-width="2561" height="305" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhgBldgphNGumycZHoe56C4-JCb1VcJ-Lwd13X4chm8nf1JjegOhR_9IaP2qGlZr41A0YH095faIL-v146BEwhRQjJ8tj8nY-vhu5KVW-uaOGpD3D2-mYRJnBvBIOecd5IPEk7k_5rkI0_qtV4S2uyv9-cBY9Bl1_YzDopgQTC0SGrVgJUA0TCABfEi=w440-h305" width="440" /></a></div><p>I started with one of my treasured vintage Ladybird books to use as the cover of my journal, then I picked out a selection of threads, trims, fabrics and scraps, taking my colour scheme from the gorgeous illustration on the cover. </p><p>If you would like a closer look at my collection of supplies, check out the video on my YT channel. Lots of people joined in, it was so much fun "meeting" some of my subscribers and it was lovely to have everyone chatting away with me and each other. </p><p>My son Tom was with me IRL for emotional as well as technical support - making sure everything was working properly and that I didn't chicken out at the last minute! Thanks Tom, I couldn't have done it without you xo</p><p>The plan was to make three watercolour paintings - two with paints and one with watercolour pencils. As it turned out, I didn't finish a single one of them during the stream, but I made a good start and I've been finishing them off camera. Here's the first one, using the negative watercolour painting technique and finishing with a black fineliner ...</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEguEpvLBgQ21jbXOyxzhHYGabbkBg_w_3a2I3Eo6NvZ566_-mHm3oiJKDYKjLVCHURvh2xG3wMjtcySCW3bnFBO8dIdXV0-a3n-QqS1yw7b9gwQSq88SyUdmY3jGpkvc9IQeSQgK7v_scSVWYW7Gv-YySFyK2PNkk_ZVQ_UeQbJDBIAFzcS6D9-GnxJ=s4000" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3000" data-original-width="4000" height="324" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEguEpvLBgQ21jbXOyxzhHYGabbkBg_w_3a2I3Eo6NvZ566_-mHm3oiJKDYKjLVCHURvh2xG3wMjtcySCW3bnFBO8dIdXV0-a3n-QqS1yw7b9gwQSq88SyUdmY3jGpkvc9IQeSQgK7v_scSVWYW7Gv-YySFyK2PNkk_ZVQ_UeQbJDBIAFzcS6D9-GnxJ=w432-h324" width="432" /></a></div><p>This technique is easy and addictive and works really well with other shapes, such as trees or hearts. Boho Bunting Weeks Four, Five, Six and Seven. <p> Oops!! I forgot to post pictures of the last FOUR weekly boho bunting pennants. As the plan is to do not one but THREE watercolour paintings in one live session, I needed to keep it simple!</p><p>I'm so excited and flattered that over 500 people have taken the time and trouble to subscribe to my channel and watch some of my videos, I really wanted to celebrate and say thank you and I'm hoping at least one or two might pop on to say hello and maybe paint along with me. </p><p>As a little thankyou gift, I've also done a couple of free printable colouring sheets - click here to download - I'll be turning them in to watercolour paintings on the day, but they could be coloured with any pens, markers or paints and it would be fun to see people put their own spin on them :)</p><p>More info on my <a href="https://youtu.be/ModECGpZ3bc" target="_blank">YT channel</a>. Please feel free to join in or just pop in and say hello, it would be lovely to "meet" you :)</p><p>Annie xo</p>Annie Claxtonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05388444203672449777noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1265373721678053795.post-62857540756772618972022-01-27T11:28:00.001+00:002022-01-27T11:28:24.751+00:00Wreck This Journal - Resistance is Futile<p> I'm really enjoying the new Wreck this Journal technicolour version - this page started off bright yellow and the prompt was "resist", draw with wax crayon and paint over.
