WOYWW 212

Hello Happy WOYWWers!!!

If you have no idea what that means - pop over to Julia's blog The Stamping Ground and you can have a look at hundreds of other people's workdesks - it's FASCINATING, inspirational and very addictive! You can also link up to your own workdesk and show us all what you've been up to this week.

So, welcome to my Very Busy Workdesk this week (it's also very messy and there's stuff all over the floor as well which you can't see here!)

I've not actually managed to get my hands dirty yet today, but I've got lots of stuff READY :o)

This main heap here is the beginnings of my Find Your Voice project - well, actually TWO projects, because in typical Piscean fashion I can't make my mind up which to do.
Find Your Voice is a free 8 week storytelling workshop being run by Kristin Tweedale and it just started on Monday - very exciting! Pop over to Kristin's blog to find out all about it

This week we have been mostly thinking, planning, getting supplies together, getting to know each other and finding our way around. The pile of potential you see on my desk above has now been sorted into two slightly more organised heaps and I've done most of my thinking and planning on the post-its you can see below!

Both projects are books, both will have lots of handmade embellishments and interactive elements, and will make use of rescued items, freebie patterned papers and downloaded images. However, in other ways they will be very different.

Stuff & Nonsense
This one's going to be about the Now - my everyday life, dreams and aspirations, thoughts and ideas. It will be in the form of a Smash Book and style-wise I'm going for an eclectic mix of vintage with a funky modern edge. I want to include lots of photos and ephemera and I'm hoping that once I get started (at last - I've had this book for over a year!) it will come together quite quickly.

Flotsam & Jetsam
This one is going to be a place to gather up oddments of childhood memories and feelings which aren't otherwise captured in my scrapbooks. It will be in the form of an altered board book and I'm going to be inspired by the stories I loved to read as a child - think fairy tales, Alice in Wonderland, The Borrowers, The Hobbit, The Wizard of Oz. I'm aiming at a more artsy, whimsical, magical feel to this one and will be trying out mixed media, collage and suchlike.

Actually, it's really helped to get that down on (virtual) paper...so, now I need to catch up with the other projects which are piled up on my desk -
  • a tag for Tag Tuesday (we're on the letter "Y" this week and I should have posted yesterday)
  • a scrap page for Projects That Wow! at Jennifer Grace Creates (I'm going for the DIY Details prompt and planning to enter it for this week's Participation Prize)
  • an art journal page for Summer of Color (lime green and purple this week - WOWZER!)
  • Case File #78 for CSI (if I tell you about as it doesn't come out until Friday and I would hate to spoil the reveal!)
  • Birthday card for my husband (he's so appreciative when I make him a card I don't like to give him a ready-made one now!)
I was also hoping to squeeze in the Tim Holtz tag for June and have a peek at the Scrapology challenge, but something had to give!

So, best go and actually do something then, rather than sitting here banging on about it! Perhaps I'll do some cuttin and stickin whilst we have daylight and come back for a lovely wander around the workdesks with a nice glass of something chilled this evening .... mmmmm

oooh! and I've made a Key Lime Pie today - it's not On My Workdesk as such, but it was a lovely easy recipe and definitely passed the Spoon Lick Test. You're supposed to let it chill for at least six hours now (unlikely to happen). If it tastes as good as it looks, I'll post a link to the recipe tomorrow :o)

Cheerio for now - sorry for rambling! xxx

"pile of potential", that's a really great phrase (which translates into I'm stealing it)
