Dewdrop Diamonds

One of the positive things about being up half the night is that you get to watch the new day arrive and enjoy that quiet time before the rest of the world joins in. I find it wonderful that even in the heart of insomniac London, to me there is still a sense of calm and serenity at daybreak. I will always remember one early morning after a long sleepless night, sitting by an open window on the sixth floor of a Kensington apartment block, watching the world wake up and listening to the most beautiful dawn chorus - probably the only time the poor birds can get a word in edgeways!

Another little reward you will sometimes get for being up early is to see spiders webs transformed overnight into magical dewdrop diamonds ... Ooooh! ... Aaaah!

How beautiful is that?! There are loads of spiders' webs on our side gate ...

Doesn't look so impressive from a distance, but here are some more close-ups ...

I'm quite chuffed with the pictures too, which I took on my iPad (new toy) and tidied up with this brilliant free app called Snapspeed ...

AND I'm using the free Blogger app to post this from the iPad, just to see if I can - it's much easier to do the sit down ten mins, stand up ten mins routine at least (At the moment I'm standing up at the kitchen work top) and it would be great if I can blog learn how to blog on the move. Get me!
Anyway, couple more spider pics ...

I love the contrast of the delicate webs against the wrought iron of the gate ... Not so keen on the unsightly building in the background, but managed to crop most of it out.
One more ...

This one was particularly impressive, because there were three webs, one behind the other.

Well, it's still only 9am - time to get the coffee on!

Thanks for popping in, come again soon :o)xxx
