Dream Day

Hi everyone!

The March challenge over at the 1-2-3 Challenge Blog is delightfully dreamy ...

It's really simple - all you have to do is make a page using frames, pastel colours and the word "dream" - then link up your page before the end of March to be in with a chance of winning one of the fabulous prizes on offer this month.

Here's how I was inspired by the mood board ...

Sorry the photo is a bit dark cos of the dreary weather today, but you get the gist ... this is one of my favourite pictures of our wedding day in August 2011 - we were being "papped" by all our friends as we signed the register and at this point we had a fit of the giggles!

To create this page, I mostly used papers from the Maggie Holmes "Flea Market" collection by Crate Paper. I really love this combination of faded prints and vintage china motifs, with some zingy colour thrown into the mix for a modern edge - I may be needing some more I think ;o)
I started with a sheet of white Bazzill Cardstock which I got from SJ Crafts, then had lots of fun cutting out words and motifs from the patterned paper to create interesting layers and fun details on the page, including lots of reminders of our Dream Day ...

  • The bunting was hand cut from the reverse of the "Fine China" paper, adhered with foam dots and finished with twine (we hand-made 100m of fabric bunting to decorate the marquee!)
  • The tags and words were from the Cut-Apart Sheet and all the edges were inked with Distress Ink in Black Soot (happy words which reflect how I feel when I remember that day).
  • I really enjoyed cutting the pretty plates from the "Fine China" paper and dotting them around the design (to remind me of our home-made wedding picnic).
  • Small scraps of ribbon, doily and fabric are tucked in here and there for a bit of texture.

  • More of those beautiful vintage plates (we baked 144 home-made cakes and I was icing my wedding cake two hours before the ceremony!)
  • A cluster of flowers (we had to learn some floristry skills for our DIY wedding - we did the church flowers, table centres, buttonholes, corsages AND my bouquet all by ourselves)
  • More happy words from the cut-apart sheet - these were adhered to scraps of paper first and then cut around to give them more stability and a pretty edge.

  • The green frames were cut from a sheet of Amy Tangerine paper - I'm just using up the leftovers now so can't remember what collection it was from, but they're very cute.
  • Yet another pretty plate, and scraps of ribbon, doily, twine and threads (many happy hours were spent during the months before the big day, making favours for friends and family and altering my eBay wedding dress - which only cost me £6.99!).

  • I created two little clusters in the bottom corners to finish off the design - I love this little wood veneer frame but can't remember where it came from. The enamel heart is a Prima Sugar Dot.
  • The alphas for the title are the gorgeous Prima Canvas Alphas in white. I love the texture of these, and you can use all kinds of media to colour them - this time I've just used a hint of Distress Ink in Picked Raspberry.
Well, that's about it from me - head on over to the 1-2-3 Challenge Blog for lots more inspiration and why not have a go yourself? You've got to be in it to win it! :o)
