Hi Everyone,
There's a new challenge for May over at SJ Crafts and it is such a fun idea. Here it is ...
Each square in the grid has a different technique, product or design element in it - the challenge is to pick a row of three (vertical, horizontal or diagonal) and include all three items in your project - fun!!! :o)
I went for the middle vertical row and used torn paper, metal (staples) and a border punch. Here's what I came up with ...
I love this picture of my Uncle Ian, he has such a look of quiet contentment and little Josh looks like he's about to have a nap with his Grandad!
Patterned papers, stickers and diecuts were all from the 7 Dots Illuminations collection. I also used wood veneers from Studio Calico, Simple Stories Typeset Stickers and Burlap Stickers, Prima Alphas in black and one of the Prima stitched diecuts from the SJ Crafts March Kit.
I cut the cloud shapes from scrap packaging card, inked the edges and popped them up on foam dots. All the edges are disressed and torn. The wood veneer arrows and stars were painted with acrylic paint.
My border punch was used to give a scallop edge to a scrap strip of the patterned paper, which you can see here tucked between the layers. The burlap stickers were coloured with paint to match my page.
I started with a layer of torn paper in the centre of the page, playing with paint, inks and gesso to add interest to the background. Then I layered up some of the cut-aparts, using staples to attach them to the page.
This was such an inspiring challenge that I made another page - but I'll show you that one tomorrow :o)
Check out the SJ Crafts Blog to see how the DT were inspired by this challenge, and why not have a go yourself? We'd love to see what you come up with - link up on the blog or upload to our Facebook page.
Thanks for popping in today, see you again soon!
