Well, this must be the most activity my blog has seen in ages - it really has been a very productive day.
I made a few cards with my new "Georgie" stamp set today and took some photos as I went along, so that I could show you how they came together. This will be a looooooooooong post, so this is your chance to choose whether to "Read more ..." or escape now ....
As well as experimenting with some different techniques and ideas, I made another small step towards conquering my personal Paper Mountain. Starting with this paper collection which came free with Scrapbook Magazine back in the summer (or it could have been last summer???) ...
I didn't want my cards to have a beachy theme, so I picked out three of the patterned papers which weren't especially beachy ...
... all stuff which has been lurking in my drawers since the Dark Ages.
So, first I took an A4 sheet of smooth white card and folded it in half to make my card base ...
Cut a piece of pp slightly smaller than the card front and distressed the edges ...
... then inked them with Distress Ink in Black Soot ...
... added another piece of pp smaller than the previous one, giving it the same treatment ...
... scuffed up the edges a bit more, then added a contrasting colour and some trims ...
... followed by some stamped faux stitching from the "Georgie" stamp set ...
... to add some extra texture ...
With my background ready, it was time to start on my focal point. I stamped all the pieces I would need, using Archival Ink in Jet Black ...
When all the pieces were cut out, I inked all the edges with Distress Inks ...
... then it was time to collage all the pieces together ...
... moving them around until I was happy with the arrangement ...
... and then grabbing my colouring pencils, my trusty white Uniball pen and a black marker to add some colour and definition to the image ...
Now for the little extras - some photo corners ...
... and some butterflies ...
I knew I wouldn't need this many butterflies, but it's always worth stamping a few extras whilst you're at it, then you can cut them out while you're in the mood and have a little stash of them ready for another project. Next came the daisies ...
I used Archival Ink again, coloured the centres with blendable pencil, then cut them out ...
... inked the edges with Distress Ink and snipped into some of the petals, before stacking them together like this ...
... and adding them to the card along with some stems and leaves ...
... and finishing with a stamped sentiment which I matted onto a scrap of the lilac paper ...

Now on to the second card - again, I started by folding an A4 sheet of card in half ...
... adding a piece of pp slightly smaller in size to create my backgrouind ...
... then I stamped Georgie onto plain white cardstock and made a mask by stamping onto a sticky note and applied this to my stamped image ...
Now she was ready for her arms and legs ...
It's easy to see where you are stamping because the stamps are clear, and you can play around with the position of the limbs until you are happy with the result ...
... then for the Big Reveal ...
I also stamped some of the components onto pp ...
... applied them to my collage and used a Promarker to colour the arms and face.
I used Distress Inks, colouring pencils and markers to add detail and definition to the character ...
... then cut her out ready to apply to the background ...
I'd already added some trim and three stamped daisies, but decided that somesome photo corners and faux stitching would create a perfect frame for this card ...
The photo corner was stamped onto a sticky note to create a mask ...
... so that the "stitching" would appear to disappear behind the photo corners. This was the finsihed result ...
The character was added, using foam dots for depth ...
... then some extra pretties - and here's the finished result ..
