Another List!

Hi everyone,

There hasn't been much time, space or energy for scrapping in my world just lately, but I just couldn't resist Major Case File #151 over at CSI (Color, Stories, Inspiration) - so many fun elements to play with, a brilliant sketch from Em Stafrace from The Nifty Pixel, and the colour combination was perfect for one of our wedding photos.

Here's the Case File ...

... and here's how I solved the Case ...

But did I follow all the clues ...... ?????

  • The Sketch: I rotated the sketch and slightly changed the positions of the elements to suit one large photo instead of three small ones, but it was definitely my starting point!
  • The Scheme: All the colours are there, plus some neutral grey and black.
  • The Evidence: Frames, doodling, banner, triangles, string, loops, sprinkles.
  • The Testimony: Now here's the thing - before I started, I thought about the story I wanted to tell, but then I got carried away and completely forgot about it. Tsk! So, I'm going to cheat a bit - my journalling will be handwritten on the back as follows ...

"I've always been notorious for my obsessive list-making, but I have never made so many lists in my life as I did when I was planning our DIY wedding - they were all filed away in a big fat folder and at the front I even made a list of lists!!

It took a LOT of meticulous planning to make sure that on the day everything would seem effortless and relaxed - thanks to all the list-making and a LOT of help from out friends, everything went smoothly and we had a perfect day.

This picture shows dear Sally, who had gallantly volunteered to be our chief organiser on the day, with a list of photographs to be taken. The plan was for Sally to gather groups of people together so that Tom could take the photos - the flaw in this plan was that Sally didn't know who anyone was and we really should have got her a megaphone or something!

She still managed to do a brilliant job though, and Tom took some lovely shots, all very natural and casual, just as we wanted."

Some close-ups so you can scrutinise the evidence ...

Doodling doodling doodling all over the place ...

Frames, loops of twine, one of the butterflies from my Georgie stamp set cut from patterned paper - ooh and some doodling around a Happy Scatter stencilled arrow ...

Doodle Doodle Doo! I made a banner from triangles just like the 100m of bunting we made to decorate the marquee. The sprinkle of hearts and the photo corners were stamped using my own Georgie stamp set and I added a sprinkle of enamel dots as well.

Once I had finished this page, I decided to make a start on a pocket page layout to go in our wedding album. This should be a great way to scrap the rest of the photos quickly - especially those pictures we want to keep and write about but wouldn't need a whole page. The plan is to have some feature pages with coordinating pocket pages, and I can tuck all kinds of memorabilia in the pockets as well.

As you can see, this layout still needs some work, but it feels good to make a start at last ...

Apart from the days of the week card, I made all the PL style cards myself, using elements to match the feature page.

This first one was made with a Happy Scatter stencil - I coloured in the shape with Kaiser Fusion pens on white card, then doodled around the outlines and mounted the card onto a scrap of the patterned paper ...

For the next one, I used my Georgie stamp set ...

... stamping the photo corners onto coloured paper and cutting them out and adding some interest with the zigzig stitching.

Well, that's about it I think - this made me realise how much I've missed CSI, one of my very favourite challenge sites and always an inspiration. As this one is a Major Case File, it's open for a whole month, so why not check it out and have a go at cracking this case yourself?

Thank you for popping in to see me today, see you again soon :o)

Annie you are on such a roll. I love this whimsical feel layout and the colours are just lovely. The doodling keeps it light and fun. Sounds like a perfect day to me. I am doing my DD's wedding with her. Unfortunately I stress so I have been making lists too and I get why she wants to do it herself. Love how you made the PL piece to go with it and the stamped bits are awesome. I love that stencil. :D
