One of the many things which has been keeping me busy over the last few weeks was preparation for John's 60th birthday party. We decided on a retro theme and had loads of fun coming up with ideas for food, music, decor and stuff to do.
We set up a table where our guests could have a little saunter down Memory Lane and let their inner children out to play - do you remember these? ...
When I was a little girl, I used to spend hours playing with paper dolls. These particular ones came from Tin Teddy on Etsy. And for the boys, there was a Robby the Robot and K-9 ...
... which were free printables which I found on the Tektonen Papercraft blog (I couldn't resist adding extra rusty grunginess with some Distress Inks). In fact, there are LOADS of free printable paper toys out there - try www.papertoys.com or www.papercars.net to find some fun toys to download and print at home ...
... and all you need is paper, a printer, scissors, glue and quite a bit of patience! Check out this pinterest page for loads of paper dolls such as this one ...
I'm going to take some of the printed sheets with me when I meet up with the girls next week for our annual visit to Oxford - we stay in University digs and like to have some crafty cutting and sticking to do in the evenings, so these will fit the bill perfectly!
Last but not least is a paper toy I remember very well - we used to make these all the time, with just a sheet of paper and a pencil, but I coloured this one with marker pens ...
... the Fortune Teller!! SO much fun to make with the kiddies (if you need an excuse!) - if you can't remember how to make one, check out one of the many tutorials on YouTube.

And the paper toys is a stroke of genius. I love the foorballer. I'll see if I can save that image and print it out for my grandson when he comes next month.
