Wanderlust Week 8 = 3 x 10!!

Hi Everyone,

Every 4th week of our Wanderlust adventure, we skip lessons and have the chance to catch up and challenge ourselves with some fun activities.

One of the challenges this week was to create an AJ page in 3 ten-minute sprints - OMG!!! I found this REALLY difficult, but strangely liberating, because with only ten minutes to play with, I had to just go for it. The idea is to post a picture of the page at the end of each ten-minute stretch.

Here's what I achieved with the first ten minutes on Friday night ...

I applied some white gesso through a stencil, then blasted it with the heat gun to dry it off a bit before adding a lot of watery paint and allowing it to dribble down the page, Then in the last few seconds I rubbed some more gesso over the middle part of the page.

On Saturday night, I decided to add some contrast with Distress Ink in Twisted Citron, then splashed some white Indian Ink about the place - the ink refused to dry, so I dabbed some of it off, then panicked at the last minute and slapped on some white paint as the beginning of a focal point.

On Sunday afternoon, I added more colour with Distress Ink in Twisted Citron and Peacock Feathers, then quickly pasted on some paper scraps and finally added Black Soot through a Tim Holtz stencil to make the splashes and rings.

PHEW!!!Ten minutes goes SO fast when you're working against the clock!

My page still needs a focal point and some wordage - as I was playing, the words "Live LIfe In Colour" kept running through my head, and I'm thinking m aybe one of those TH vintage passport photos ... hmmmm ...

Thanks for popping in to see me today, see you again soon :o)

Ten Minutes!!! I'd still be trying to find my desk! Or the paper, or the watercolour!! I'd have a conniption On the spot, but you made it work for you. Well done - I'm in awe :D
Even though I didn't do this activity, I think the message has got through to me! It's lovely to just work on a page without a plan or the need to achieve anything. Love the freedom in your play!
