When your Mojo is MIA, a challenge or a sketch is often just the thing to kick-start your creativity, and CSI is one of my favourites. The Major Case File comes out of the 1st of every month, includes a sketch, and you have until the end of the month to complete it and link up, share your page and be in with a chance of winning a fab prize.

Here's the Major Case File for November ...
There is a new twist beginning this month, where you can choose to investigate the Scene for yourself and draw your own inspiration from the image. I like the traditional clues though, as shown above - use all the colours in the Scheme, at least three pieces of evidence and one from the testimony list.
Here's how I solved the case ...
The Scheme: all five colours are there, plus a tiny touch of leaf green, neutral browns and gold.
The Evidence: stripes, watercolour, leaves, stars, hearts, wood/woodgrain, vellum, something fuzzy, white rub-ons .... and I've just remembered that I had planned to cut some chevron arrows and put them on either side of the title. so I will have to go back and do that ... but right now I'm running out of time!!! UPDATE - I've since gone back in to add some handcut woodgrain chevrons :o)
Testimony: this is a picture of my son Tom. My journaling is a bit personal to share in detail here, but I was inspired by the word "wish" and on the back I have written down some of the things I wish for him - the main thing being that I wish that he could learn to love himself as much as we all do.
I had great fun doing the "watercolour" part of this challenge to create a background for my page. In fact I loved it so much that I took a picture just before I started covering it up again!
This was done on watercolour paper, using Distress Oxide in Frayed Burlap and Distress Ink in Gathered Twigs, using the "packaging" or "smooshing" technique and stamping. If ou look carefully, you can see the white rub-ons resisting the inks. Very happy with that effect, almost couldn't bring myself to move on :o)
Well I feel I have my mojo back, just need lots of practice now to get back into the groove!!
