Hello Friends in Blogland,
My January ScrawlRBox was waiting for me when I got home from work yesterday and I couldn't wait to play with it. Here's what we got this month ...
W&N Promarkers in three different shades of warm brown; Sakura Pigma Micron 01black; Sakura Pigma Brush black; F-C Pitt Artist Pen 1.5 white; F-C 9000 pencil 2H. We also got a couple of sheets of Canaletto 160gsm Liscia paper and a sweetie which I ate before I took the photo :o)
This month's inspiration piece is by Italian illustrator Giobi. We are encouraged to use these supplies to tell a story and try to convey a memory or emotion. The challenge for January is "Growing Up".
Over the last week or so, I've been noticing the days just starting to lengthen and new shoots beginning to appear, signalling that we will soon be coming out of the short, dark days of winter and we can start looking forward to the spring. Inspired by this feeling, I created a page for my journal, using only the supplies in this month's box ...
It was challenging to use only brown, black and white but I really enjoyed using the different types of pens in different ways to create depth and texture and the paper was smooth and lovely to work on. I tried to convey the feeling of coming out of the dark into the light. I think I may add a suitable quote or poem, just need to find it - any ideas?
It has always been a source of wonder to me that all of next year's growth is contained in a tiny seed, just waiting to be awoken at the right time and grow into a whole new life. We see this cycle of life happening all around us all the time and it's easy to take it for granted, but it really is wonderful.
So that's me for now, I'm off to tidy my workroom now, I feel a scrapbook page coming on :o)
Thanks for visiting me today, see you again soon!
Love Annie xxx
