My Dirty Little Boy

This is my (very last minute) take on this month's Scrap 365 sketch challenge. The original sketch was from a design by Emma Stafrace, which was a beautiful clean, crisp, graphic-style layout. Somehow mine has ended up really grungy and dirty and perfectly suited to this series of photos of my cat (who used to go crazy for tobacco and loved to roll in the pile of old fags in the garden next door - he would come in looking like this and STINKING of fags but very smug)
This isn't a great picture, but you can just about make out the misting, masking and splattering in the background. The Tim Holtz Filmstrip die came in handy again and I enjoyed using some new washi tapes too. The black dots are holes punched with the Crop-a-Dile to allow the black underneath to show through, because I couldn't get my black ink spray to work!
On Emma's page she used a very clever "double-masking" technique, which I did have a go at but got in a bit of a mess. I will have another go as hers looked really good, but this time I ripped my page apart and started again - the circles you see here are cut from part of the background of the old one (waste not want not!)
Well I'm still not that happy with this, but I've promised myself to try and have a go at these challenges - the inspiration and the deadlines are good for my mojo, and I always learn something new, even if I'm not always entirely happy with the outcome! :)
Onwards and upwards!
