Bags of Fun

My good friend Trina came over one day last week and we spent the whole day sewing - with machines! Trina does a lot of dressmaking and I'm always so impressed with her makes, but I hardly ever get my machine out these days, so we decided it was high time to dust it off.  Trina made not one, but TWO lovely A-line skirts (forgot to take a picture to show you) and I made up a bag using a kit I bought from Cloth Atelier at the K&S Show last year ... When you buy one of these kits, you are allowed to choose any two fat quarters of fabric from the beautiful selection they have on display. I decided to get two for the price of one, by using some scrap fabric from my stash - so this one was made from one of the Cloth Atelier fabrics and some material cut from an old top, and I still have the other fat quarter to use, so I can make another bag later.  My top stitching left a lot to be desired, so I cunningly disguised it by adding several lines of stitching along the handles...

Create This Book Title Page - in which Yours Truly looks even odder than usual!

I love making quirky characters out of collaged papers which I cut from magazines and then using mixed media to add interest and colour. For the title page of my Create This Book, I decided to do a collaged self portrait ... Nailed it! :) Thanks for stopping by today, see you again soon! Annie xo

Still Doing Pennants!

I've just finished Week Eleven of my Boho Bunting slow stitching project - just one more to go!  This time, I used some salvaged applique pieces and lots of decorative stitching to enhance the printed pattern on the silk.  Last week was my version of Trapunto quilting (I called it Frankenstein Trapunto - real embroiders look away now!), the week before I experimented with using a soldering iron to make holes in the silk. I've made tassels, beaded fringing, suffolk puffs and tried out lots of different techniques along the way. It's been a lot of fun and I'll be kinda sorry when it comes to an end next week - but I do have several other slow stitching projects on the go and in the pipeline :) If you would like to catch up on all the pennants so far, check out the Boho Bunting playlist on my YT channel. Thanks for visiting my blog today, see you again soon,  Annie xo

Birthday Bliss!

What a lucky duck I am; I was spoilt absolutely rotten with presents for my birthday this year. Here's a peek at some of the wonderful goodies I was given, each one so thoughtful and right up my street ... And that's not all - I got even more after this. Lots of new projects in the pipeline using some of these new toys. If you'd enjoy a proper nosey, check out the video on my YT channel :) Thanks for popping in today, see you again soon!  Annie xo
