It's a Parade!!!

Hi everyone,

There's another fun and funky Case File for April Fools month over at CSI this week. Here it is ...

As always, Debbi has found us an intriguing scene to investigate. From this image, she takes five colours, inspiration for design elements and ideas for journaling prompts. In order to solve the case, you need to follow all of these clues to make a scrapbook page -

  • All five colours in the Scheme
  • At least two items from Evidence
  • At least one piece of Testimony

As it's the second Tuesday in the month, we also have a fabulous sketch from Emma Stafrace at Page Drafts

So, here how I cracked the case (spot the not-so-deliberate mistake!) ...

... yup, I totally forgot about the sketch!!! What a dimmock ... and I always LOVE using Em's sketches, they really work so well for me. I'm an April Fool I guess :o)

Thinking I didn't have a sketch to work with, I sort-of scrap-lifted a brilliant page by Jess Mackenzie for the CSI feature in the current issue of Scrap365 - Jess's pages are always an inspiration, so it was great fun to use one of them as a starting point - thanks Jess! :o)

Anyway, did I at least manage to follow all the other clues?

  • Scheme: colours are all there, plus neutrals
  • Evidence: white background; arrows; doodling/pen work; fabric; fibres; pockets
  • Testimony: this is written on the yellow tag which I've tucked into a pocket behind the photo.

"You may not need to hold my hand when you cross the road any more Tom, but I will always be there for you when you need me. Mum x"

Here's a couple of close-up shots so we can conduct a thorough investigation ...

I love the fabric prints on these patterned papers from the MME Cut & Paste collection - the grey herringbone "Carefree Relaxed" and sunshine yellow houndstooth check "Charm" made a perfect layered background for my photo. I added some stamped stitching (much quicker than the real thing) and created a pocket between the layers for my journaling tag.
The scalloped strip was cut from the reverse of one of the "Charm" paper, edged with a border punch and finished with some doodling.
A tangle of embroidery threads in all the right colours is stuffed between the layers.
I've also used some stickers and die cuts from the Crate Paper DIY Shop collection - such as the banner, the yellow doily and the word arrow which I've mounted on plain cardstock and adhered with pop dots. I love the little wooden frame, which was from a Curiosity Corner pack I bought at The Range.

The red scalloped strip and the file tab were from the DIY Shop sticker sheet and I tucked in a couple of waste pieces from the die cut sheet.
The wood veneer arrow was coloured with Distress Ink in "Peacock Feathers"
Finally, I spattered the white background with various colours of ink to coordinate with the Scheme and add a splash of fun to suit my theme.

So that's it from me - pop over to CSI to see how everyone else has cracked the case (bet they've all used the sketch for a start!) - you'll  be bowled over with so many different and fabulous takes on the challenge.

Thanks for coming to my blog today, hope to see  you again soon

Annie :o)

hehehe thanks Em for forgiving my dimmockness - although the more I look at it, the more I seem to be convincing myself that maybe it does look a bit like the sketch ....???? No, it really doesn't :o)
