DIY Project Life Cards

Hi everyone,

If you've seen my previous posts, you'll have noticed how much I enjoyed the free blog event Refresh Your Craft & Soul over at Jennifer Grace Creates this weekend. It's not too late to enter the giveaways and challenges and they're all open internationally too - click on the link to catch up on all the posts.

This is my last RYCAS project but it's a biggie! I was inspired by one of the many posts over the weekend to make a set of Project Life cards and I'm also going to enter it for the Teal Orange and White challenge. Here's what I came up with ...

As luck would have it, my latest parcel from SJ Crafts arrived on Saturday and it included a pack of Becky Higgins PL Pocket Protectors which I'm very excited about. There were two big variety packs to choose from in the shop and I decided on Pack 2. I also had a set of the Becky Higgins PL nesting dies waiting to be played with ...

First, I grabbed some of the scrap patterned papers which I had pulled out ready for RYCAS (Jennifer had given us a heads-up about teal and orange) and out came my trusty Cuttlebug ...

I cut a whole selection of mix-and-match pieces - the dies include both sizes of PL card, as well as lots of shapes which can be added to the cards or used as coordinating embellishments. By arranging the heart or arrow die inside the PL card die, you can create a peep-through cut-out shape which I quite like.

Then I thought about the inside pages from the vintage book I cut up earlier when I made the paintbrush holder - the beautiful illustrations in this book have lots of teal and orange in them and I thought they would make an interesting addition to my set of PL cards ...

After assembling all my pieces into an arrangement I was happy with, it was time to add some wordage ...

I used some clear stickers from the Simple Stories DIY collection, some Jillybean Soup word stickers and some die cut alphas I found at a garage sale ...

Finally, I doodled lines and stitching in black and white and I was done!

Can't wait to get cracking on some Project Life layouts now. My plan is to combine traditional pages with PL style layouts, so I will make a page with one or two feature photos, then opposite that I'll put a PL page with more photos and memories of the event. This way I should be able to catch up on years of photos and set down the memories that go with them. It's also going to be another great way to use up scraps of patterned paper, which is part of my Big Plans for this year.

But all that will have to wait for now as we're off to beautiful Ireland to visit family tomorrow and I haven't even packed yet! :o)

Thanks for a fabulous weekend Jennifer - here's a final look at all my RYCAS-inspired projects ...

Thanks for popping by and remember if you want to catch up, there's still time - click here for all the details.

See you next week! :o)
