WOYWW 280

Hello everyone,

It's a lovely autumnal What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday here in Norfolk UK - not much happening on my workdesk this week, although it is very crowded and full of potential as usual! In case you're wondering why I'm rambling on about workdesks, check out Julia's Stamping Ground where it all happens every Wednesday and you can have a snout at creative spaces all over the world.

Here's a picture of my chaotic shambles of a workdesk ...

Now let's have a closer peek at some of my unfinished projects and half-baked ideas ...

So, from left to right we have ...
  • a partially-filled art journal
  • a plain gift box waiting to be upcycled
  • some pony beads ready for an experiment in DIY enamel dots
  • one of my nearly-finished tag books
  • a half-eaten pack of tic-tacs
  • three bottles of PVA because it was on offer at Hobbycraft
  • a little collection of second-hand finger puppets waiting for a revamp
  • a handful of Hungarian Forints
  • vintage children's books for repurposing as art journals
  • old money and playing cards from the fleamarket in Budapest
And there's more ...

  • pre-cut pieces of scrap patterned paper ready for my tag books
  • on top of that some Budapest ephemera to go in some pocket page spreads
  • on top of that again some salvaged tags waiting to be recycled into something gorgeous
  • some lovely wood veneers and a stencil from Jennifer's Happy Scatter Etsy shop
  • empty jelly bean box for a Christmas workshop idea
Moving on ...

  • magazines I haven't had time to open
  • a sketchbook
  • a notebook full of big ideas
  • my under-used Cricut machine
  • a bag of empty toilet rolls which will be turned into mini books and stuff
  • a bag of cute alphabet beads which will be perfect for some future project
  • my son's keys and deodorant ...
... which brings me neatly to the reason why my workdesk is all plans and no action this week ...

My little workroom doubles up as a spare room, so this is where my son has been camping out, on a little fold-out bed squeezed in between my workdesk and the storage units (he has so far resisted the temptation to rearrange my carefully organised supplies just to wind me up!)

There seem to be two recurring themes in this post -

  1. Recycling/repurposing/upcycling/revamping
  2. Too many ideas, not enough time!

Now I'm off to Julia's Stamping Ground to see what everyone else has been up to this week and check out some workdesks where there has been some real action! See you there :o)

I am all about having too many creative plans and not enough time! That is so cute, your son sleeping in the crafty corner. My craft room is in my bedroom, but I kind of like it that way right now. Hubby doesn't mind. Your desk is just perfect in my eyes though, because all that stash has great potential and will no doubt become something adorable--lots of adorable. You make me want to find some children's books to turn into journals too! Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #34
What a fun blog post, Annie! I enjoyed reading the list of your supplies and smiled when you got to the half eaten tic-tacs! I'd really like to know how you're going to turn the toilet rolls into mini journals! I recognised the playing cards immediately! I spent countless hours playing with those with my brother and our cousins when we were kids! I can't wait to see what you are going to do with them. Thanks for visiting my blog! Happy desk hopping! zsuzsa @ InkyDinkyDoodle

I think that about sums most of us up- too many ideas, too little time. And the buying 3 of something because it was on offer, lol. Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #38 xx

That's one heck of a list of stuff...but at least you know where everything is :-) I thought I was bad with having too many things on the go but you beat me hands down, lol!

Have fun crafting,

Oh my, so many plans and projects. I love those storage units. Shallow drawers are so useful for paper people.

I laughed at the fact your son moves things in your space just to annoy you. Mine comes in after I have gone to work to see the rest of the family and he deliberately leaves drink containers around and other obvious signs to let me know he has been. My sons lives about 6 ks away. I have also had Annette who is a desker on here wanting to sleep in my craft room but didn't want that to happen LOL Looks like you have loads of UFO's to complete UN-FINISHED OBJECTS called UFO's LOL

Happy WOYWW

I love your busy desk and all your storage drawers but I really got a kick out of the thought of your son moving it all around on you!

Glad to see you've got the deodorant handy, Annie - with all that going on, you're bound to need it! What a busy desk, and so full of interest. I love your Budapest stuff and it's lovely to keep seeing it - so different and unusual, and I am quite sure you will do something stunning with it. Do keep us up to date!

My desk soon lapsed from that ultra-tidy state, and it is now busy again - can't share what with just yet but in a week or so! So glad you like my recent projects. The felt poppies are now sewn together and attached to a hair clip, and have some nice gold beads in their centres which really set them off. I'll be blogging with a photo very soon. I'll also be posting about my Ampulla stuff once it arrives - that has certainly sparked a lot of interest amongst the WOYWW-ers!

Happy belated WOYWW,

Thanks for making me smile!! Your room is much like mine, but ours becomes our bedroom when we have guests, cos I'd be too embarrassed to squeeze anyone else in there!! We are alike in other ways, too - I just love hopping from craft/project to another, too. Have a lovely week, Chris # 16

Oh I wouldn't let anyone sleep in my craft room! In the other house my craft room doubled as a spare bedroom and we would sleep in it ourselves.
I love all you Hungarian stuff. Those playing cards and that beautiful book. I can't wait to see you do something with that!
Thank you for letting me look over your shoulder,
Have a good week

Well yeah, I see the theme, and know the theme. I have this thing that if I put the empty box/beads/whatevers away, I will forget my idea for them. Am super impressed at your son's self restraint, but even more impressed at your storage!

I am the same at the moment. Too many ideas and not enough time. I think I would be freaking out if anyone had to sleep in my studio. Clearly you are waaaaay more organised. <3
