Memories

Hi everyone,

I'm still working on UFOs from Scrapstars, not quite so much time to play this week, but I have another page to show you - this one was from a class with Louise Collins and shows my sister Mandy holding her little granddaughter Leila for the first time ...

What I love about Lou's classes is that she always gets us trying new techniques to make our own embellishments and create interesting backgrounds. For this page, we used paint, gesso, inks, misting and stamping on a 12" square of grey board to make the back ground with lots of cool texture. Here's a close-up ...

We added lots of layers, using scraps of muslin, fussy-cut pieces from the patterned papers, painted chipboard, doilies and of course flowers - I got carried away and threw in a few more flowers from my stash to frame the photo.

One more close-up ...

I love the "artsy" feel of the finished page and will definitely have another go at creating a mixed media background in this way, perhaps using recycled packaging as the base - the great thing is that if it all goes horribly wrong, you can just add more layers of paint and inks until you are happy with the result :o)

Thanks for popping in to my blog today, see you again soon.

It is such a cool layout Annie. Love the brick work. You would never say you used grey board to start with. It is lovely
