LIfe Book 2016 - My Little Box of Wisdom

Hi Everyone,

Okay, so it turns out that wasn't my last Life Book related post of the week - but this definitely will be! I just had time to finish one last picture before the new lesson comes out tomorrow for Week Four of Life Book 2016 with Tamara Laporte.

This one was inspired by a lesson with the lovely Melody Ross, who encouraged us to appreciate the wisdom we have learned from our life experiences, and to represent this in a painting of a woman holding a box full of wisdom. Here's my version ...

Starting with a sheet of watercolour paper, I used acrylic paints, white gesso, matte multi medium, Neocolour II water-soluble crayons, Inktense pencils, Faber Castell Pitt Pens and Posca Paint Pens to build up layers and add shading and detail. I had great fun using a napkin to give some interesting pattern and colour to the background, her dress and even in her hair ...

My words of wisdom were typed on my old Gabrielle typewriter onto scraps of paper. Once these were stuck down, I shaded around them with and dark brown Pitt Pen to help to make them sit into the background. I couldn't fit all my wisdom into the box, so I decided to have some of them tumbling down the page ...

I am totally LOVING Life Book so far - I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings! Check out the Willowing website to find out about Life Book and all the other lessons Tamara has to offer.

Thanks for visiting today, see you again soon :o)

I'm in awe of your drawing and shading skills Annie - not something I'm brave enough to attempt. Love this concept of exploring your inner wisdom too :D
