All Caught Up!!

Hi everyone,

What a beautiful day it is here in Norfolk UK - all sunshine, blue skies, and the trees turning golden green for Autumn. I hope you're having a good day wherever you are.

Ta-daaaaa!!! At last I have caught up on my last overdue tag for Tim Holtz Tags of 2016 (Lizzy Hill if you're reading this, can you believe it?!) - this one should have been done in MAY!! For the 2016 series, Tim has been randomly selecting two techniques from previous tags and "remixing" them to come up with something different and new. This time, he used tissue-tape resist and tiny tattered floral thinlets dies.

2016TAG

I'm not making tags this year, instead I'm making little pages to go in a leather-bound journal my good friend Trina gave me last Christmas. As ever, I had to improvise with the supplies I had available, but that is part of the fun. Here's how mine turned out. Its pretty simple, but I only had half an hour to play ...

I take no credit at all for the beautiful flower, which was given to me by my lovely friend Amanda,
to prove to me that I should not throw away any scraps of fabric, no matter how tiny. If you look very closely, you will see teeny snippets of fabric sandwiched between layers of organza and tulle and then she's machine-stitched the flower shape. Very clever and very pretty and I love the idea of not wasting anything :o) I didn't have any of the tiny tattered florals, and I really needed to reduce the bulk as my journal is pretty stuffed full already, so this was a perfect alternative.

Tim used Tissue Tape as a resist - applying it to the backround here and there before stamping in Archival Ink. When you then add Distress Stain, the tape acts as a resist. As I didn't have any Tissue Tape, I tried some Scotch Invisible Tape instead and it worked really well, so I will be using that idea again. This tape is designed for repairing documents, it's translucent and it has a matt surface which you can write on, as you can see at the top of my tag. Handy stuff.

So, that's me all caught up - just waiting to see what Tim has in store for us for November and December now, and hoping I can squeeze them into my little book!

Thanks for stopping by today, see you again soon :o)

Ok well I am super impressed that you got them all done. I only managed two or three this year I think. Oh well. One day maybe I will get caught up or at least give all the techniques a go. I love that flower and how clever to fill it with teeeny bits of fabric. I love up-cycling too. This is a beautiful tag Annie.
