Last Tim Holtz Tag of 2016!!

Hello everyone,

The last couple of months have been extremely full - not just with Christmas, but with all sorts of other stuff going on - so I haven't had much time for crafting, but I was determined to finish my last Tim Holtz-inspired tag for this year. Talk about just in the nick of time!

If you follow Tim's blog, you will already know that this year he has been revisiting tags from previous years and remixing them to create new inspiration. Here was Tim's gorgeous tag for December, which combines Shadowpress, Burlap and Punches ...

2016tag
As always, I enjoyed the challenge of using Tim's techniques and ideas but substituting the supplies I had available. Here's my version (sorry for the appalling photo but I don't have time to wait for better light to take another one) ...

I used Distress Ink to stencil on canvas, instead of Distress Spray on burlap. I didn't have Shadowpress folders, so I embossed a die cut word and added a wooden word as well for balance. The leaves were die cut rather than inked, and my colour scheme is completely different, it's a journal page instead of a tag, and it's a totally rubbish photo - but other than that, it's EXACTLY like Tim's hehehe. I loved the idea of creating tiny panels to frame little Christmas-themed trinkets.

And here it is, just about stuffed into my little journal ...

This year, I made small journal pages rather than tags, which was fun. For next year, I am planning to use this book which I found in a bargain bin for only £1 - I will add covers and extra pages as I go along ...

That is of course assuming that Tim is planning to do tags for 2017 (hope so!!) - otherwise I may go back and catch up on previous years instead, because it's always so inspiring and gets me using all those supplies and looking at them in a whole new way.

I'm off to link up over at the Tim Holtz blog now and have a look at everyone else's tags - see you there :o)

Thanks for popping in today, see you again soon
