Rising to the Challenge!

Hi Everyone,

Well,I haven't made time for any scrapping since we got back from Go Go Getaway last weekend, but I wanted to show you my last two challenge pages - the ones I completed between classes over the course of the weekend. These were both colour scheme challenges.

First one shows a lovely photo of my sister Mandy with her little newborn granddaughter Leila ...

Sorry, the light was so dreadful when I took this, it looks really dull, but you get the gist :o)

This was a fun colour scheme - yellow, pink, a bright green, a kinda sky blue and a light purple. I used mostly stuff from recent Quirky Kits, with a few scraps from my hoard thrown in. I love the twisted paper "twine" - it's chunky, in really nice bright colours, and very reasonably priced from Amazon. I struggled to find something purple, so in the end I die cut some splat shapes from purple vellum I've had lurking for years. From the same Tim Holtz Sizzix Bigz die set, I also cut the scribbled shapes. Can't seem to stop doodling around everything at the moment ...

The last challenge page I did shows another treasured photograph, this time of my Mum when she went on a journey through India. This was taken at the start of a camel trek ...

I thought of this photo as soon as I saw the colour scheme as the colours fit perfectly. There are some REALLY old papers here, from a 12" pad I bought in 2007 I think, which included some pop-out diecut frames, file tabs, labels and such. The flair is quite elderly, hence the rust spots, but I liked that. There are some recycled bits, like the tag, the hole-punched page from an old diary, the buttonsand the scrap of jewelled lace. But the yellow paper, the library card and the camera sticker are all from recent Quirky Kits - I'm really enjoying using up old stuff and mixing it with the new.

For completing all eight challenges, plus the group photo page and the two pages from Jo Boland's class (I'll post those next), I was entered into the Star Scrapper draw and was lucky enough to win this fabulous prize ...

The 12" paper pack from the Pinkfresh Studio "Dream On" collection, along with a pack of layered chipboard stickers from the same collection. Gorgeous!! Thank you Go Go Girls!!!

What a wonderful finale to a fabulous weekend :o)

Thanks for visiting me today, see you again soon!

NICE win. And so well deserved! LOVE These pages. And so agree with using up old and new together. My fave thing to do!! That tag tucked in on the top one, with the 'note paper' behind the photo....really like that! And I'm with you on the 'aged' flair. Sometimes, the rust just 'fits' - which is just as well, since one can NOT toss away flair, whatever its condition!!!
