Inspired by Nature - Counterfeit Kit Club Jan 2018 Challenge #2

Hello everyone,

I've been playing with my January Counterfeit Kit, which I called "Fresh Start".

Challenge #2 for January was to be inspired by nature, and I needed a special card for a good friend who loves her garden, so here's what I came up with ...

I made this exploding box card with papers from my kit, along with a stamp set and some watercolour paints to create the beautiful butterflies.

The original kit included some gorgeous organic watercolour effects, so I had already pulled some mixed media paper and a new set of paints I was dying to try out. After spritzing the paper with water, I just brushed different colours of paint on and let them play together ...

Then I did the same on the other side (you'll see why in a minute) ...

Once both sides were dry, I stamped loads of butterflies ...

I cut them out, layered them together with a piece of wire sandwiched between and added jewels as a finishing touch ...

Because the back of the paper was also painted, they look pretty from all angles ...

... and the whole thing folds flat for posting ...

Huge fun to make, I will definitely be doing more exploding box cards :o)

Thanks for popping in today, see you again soon!

That's just about one of the sweetest cards I've ever seen! Who wouldn't jump with delight if that landed on their doormat! Love it - soooo creative!

Love your butterflies. I have to remember to do this to both sides of the paper, so cute.

BEAUTIFUL! Very clever to put butterflies on both sides making the card just as pretty from front or back!

That's lovely. And great way to make the butterflies.

I have a box card die that I've used once I think. I was looking at the butterfly background paper and wondering how a background like that would look behind Dolly?
