WOYWW #585 - Electric Boogaloo!!

Good morning to all my fellow Deskers,

Can it really What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday again already?! Mine looks a bit different this week, and no, I haven't grown a beard (yet!) ...

This is my son, Tom, who kindly came over to show me how to wire up my Book Nook - I really need to face my demons and learn how to do this from scratch myself. So, at this point, we had shovelled all the artsy stuff to one side and laid out lots of scary electronics stuff ...

Tom is a wizard with electronics and computery stuff. Fortunately for me, he is also an excellent and patient teacher, so after half an hour or so, here I am, switching on my tiny lamp to light up my miniature sewing room ...

I'm fairly confident that I now have enough of a grasp on how circuits and switches work and how to connect everything, so that I can design the lighting for future miniature endeavours - which is very satisfying :o)

So, that's me for this week, time to pop over to Julia's to have a snout around everyone else's workdesks - see you there!

I'm glad you haven't grown a beard LOL! How good of your son to teach you - it looks like something requiring knowledge of Physics, which I'm not good at. My knowledge only extends to replacing a battery in an electrical installation - this looks more complicated with circuits and everything. Hope to see your miniatures all lit up soon! xx Have a lovely week, Annie! zsuzsa #21

could have been me with that bread! the joys of going though menopause!! He's a sweetie - do you get it though? I probably would just get him to do it each time. Your book nook will look amazing with the lights. Have a lovely week. soojay#22
Gosh you ae so clever! I impressed myself the other day by linking my new phone to my car without the aid of a child but this looks much more complicated - well done to you and to Tom for being a good teacher. Happy WOYWW, stay well, saty safe, Cindy #20

Yay for you learning how to do the electronic wizardry and yay for your son being the good chap and showing you how. I don't know about you but since reaching a certain age, I could possibly rival his fine whiskers - my tweezers have never seen so much action!! Your book nooks are so amazing, the lighting will make them even more so.

Glad you haven't grown a beard, Annie, but never mind, if you do, you can always run away to the circus! I am already thinking of doing just that, and in a month or two, may start packing my bags for the trip - my tweezers seem to get daily use these days! I agree with LLJ on that score! What a very clever and useful son you have, helping you with the electronics. I can't wait to see the tiny room lit up! Your tiny room really captured my imagination - such exquisite work, and such attention to detail! Just beautiful.

Happy belated WOYWW,

Thanks for your visit, Annie. Your flatbreads sound intriguing too. As for carbs, everyone seems to think they are the big bad wolf as far as weight gain is concerned these days but if you look at the populations in the world that live the longest and are healthiest, they all have diets extremely rich in carbs. They just have to be the right ones - unrefined, in the form of plant-based whole-foods - no refined stuff like white flour, added sugar etc. Whole-foods rich in starch are calorie dilute, high fibre and nutrient rich and very satisfying, keeping you going for longer so you don't feel tempted to snack. They also feed your gut microbiome and keep it diverse, which is essential for health. One of the best foods in this category are potatoes. My hubby and I are eating tons of starchy foods these days and the weight continues to come off.

And the little room now has light!! Brilliant! I have made doll's houses before now and one of the most difficult things was the lighting..
Sorry I am so late posting - have a good week!
