Swan Song

Hi Everyone,

Mixed feelings today - Special Case File S365-6 is the 6th one created by Debbi Tehrani especially for the CSI collaboration with Scrap 365 Magazine. Here it is for you to scrutinise ...

Beautiful, isn't it? Fresh and elegant, with some interesting twists to get that mojo going. In order to solve the case, you should use all the following clues to make a scrapbook page -

  • All five colours in the scheme
  • At least two items from Evidence
  • At least one from Testimony

I was thrilled to bits when Debbi asked me back in January if I would like to make one of the pages to be featured in the magazine. CSI is one of my very favourite challenge sites and Scrap 365 is one of my favourite magazines, so you can imagine that I was quite excited!

So why the mixed feelings? you may well ask. Well, what I didn't know at the time was that this would turn out to be my last page as a CSI Detective. It was a really REALLY difficult decision to make, but I've come to realise that I was trying to squeeze too much into my spare time and something had to give. I've loved being on the team, but recently I've been struggling to keep up and I don't feel I have enough time to do a good job of it. Therefore I have reluctantly come to the decision that it's time to let it go.

To put a positive spin on it though - what a Case File to go out on!!! Here's my page (I hope Debbi will forgive me using the CSI Detective frame on here just this once) ...

The colours happened to perfectly match our outfits in this picture of me with my two "Bride's Mates" and our accessories are echoed in the embellishments on the page.

So, did I follow all the clues???

  • The Scheme: colours are all there, with just tiny touches of black and green
  • The Evidence: ribbons/bows/lace; jute/twine; jewels/flowers; stripes/diamond shapes; frames; book pages; texture paste
  • The Testimony: I've documented an aspect of my wedding day, which is written as the "mortar" between the texture paste brickwork in the background and reads as follows, "On my wedding day - 20th August 2011 - I was so glad to have - Sally & Trina by my side - thanks girls <3 xx"
Here are some close-ups so you can study the evidence ...

The window frame here is from a set of CSI Coordinates designed by the talented Michele Singh for a previous Case File - these are images which can be downloaded free by CSI Members and printed off or used for digi scrapping - brilliant! You can also see a piece of book page here, lots of flowers, some jute tied in a bow, a couple of jewels, lots of flowers, some ribbon, a lacy doily and a butterfly die cut from diamond-patterned paper.

Texture paste was applied through a stencil to create the brickwork effect, striped and diamond-patterned paper was cut into triangles to make the banner to remind me of all the bunting we made to decorate the marquee, and I tucked a piece of lace under the photo because it reminds me of sewing my wedding dress.

I really enjoyed making this page and I feel very proud to have it included in the CSI feature in Scrap 365. Thanks so much to Debbi and all the CSI Detectives, it was a huge honour to be on a team with so many talented and creative scrappers. Of course I will still be browsing the Gallery and solving Case Files as often as I can - I won't be able to stay away!

Thanks for popping in today, see you again soon :o)xxx

It's a beautiful page Annie - really lovely. You've done them proud at CSI - it's a huge commitment to *work* there and there are only so many crafting hours in the day.
