WOYWW #380 - A Deskful of Promise

Hello Fellow Deskers and Bloggy Friends,

I'm not about on Wednesdays any more, since my day off changed a few weeks ago, but the lovely Zsuzsa from Inky Dinky Doodle has kindly offered to link up for me. so that I don't have to miss my weekly WOYWW fix - although it may take me a few days to catch up with visiting (ie snooping) fellow deskers.

If you would like to join in, just post a pic of What's On YOUR Workdesk this Wednesday and link up over at the lovely Julia's Stamping Ground, or just pop in for a little nosey around some creative spaces all over the world  - but be warned, it is addictive!

Here's what's on mine this week ...

I can't take a pic of the actual desk to show you, because I stupidly left my iPad at my son's place, but it's boringly between-projects tidy anyway, so you're not missing much! These books are piled up at one end of it, waiting to be transformed into something amazing, like I've seen other people do on You Tube. I found them in a local charity shop - probably should have just bought one or two, but I couldn't choose, because I love all these stories and the illustrations are beautiful. I enjoyed these as a child, and later I enjoyed reading them to my own children, they make me feel happy just to look at them, so maybe I will just keep them in a pile for a while ...

Ok, so I'm going to schedule this post for tomorrow morning, and hopefully my mate Zsuzsa will do the honours and link me up to WOYWW, then I'll catch up with everyone over the next couple of days. Have a happy and creative week :o)

I also have the honours to be the first commenter! I got you a good place at #21! I haven't done my post yet (eeks!) still have to take photos, but I won't be far behind. Loving the idea of altering old children's books! Can't wait to see what you do with all these! And you're right - if you can't choose, just buy them all! Happy WOYWW!

Hi Annie, that great that Zsuzsa can link for you. Love the books too, I've also seen the altering videos, look great. Did you know that there are now some 'Adult' Ladybird books- very funny ones. The Book of The Wife/Husband/Mid Life Crisis for example. My DIL bought my son a couple for his birthday, they are very funny.Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #9 xxx

Nice of ZsaZsu, we'd miss you otherwise! I cant help but feel that those lovely ladybird books might have to be replaced with others to actually work in/on....sounds already as if you've bought them for the wrong reason. Ah sentiment. Causes so much clutter!!

Happy WOYWW. I don't know if I would do any altering of those books - lots of old favourites for me too. We have young grandchildren, so I know they would love to read them. I haven't seen any kids' books being altered - will go and look on YouTube/Pinterest. Ali x #31

Wonder what you will do with the books - I'm intrigued. Used to read them to my sons as well . Anne x #17
I love altering things but I do find it difficult with books but better that than they get thrown away. Crafters are very environmentally friendly as we are very good at recycling. Have a great woyww, Angela x 19

I hope you read those books before you transform them! What great stories they are. Can't wait to see what you make them out to be. Never did a book so I will be anxiously waiting.

OMG! Nice book find. I went in to a 1/2 price book store looking to buy some old children's books a while back and was surprised at the price on some of them. An old golden book was over $40…won't be altering that one!! Look forward to seeing the finished projects. Vickie #11

Oh, I'm so pleased that Zsuzsa can link you up! I felt so bad not being able to do it after offering... I volunteer in an Oxfam bookshop and we get those books in all the time - some of the older editions can be worth quite a bit and end up in the Collectibles case!

I love some of those books too. However, I haven't read the enormous turnip, I will need to see if the library has a copy. Happy week, LisaDV #37
