WOYWW #427 - in which I show yer me old china!!

Hello Lovely Deskers and Bloggy Friends,

It's been AGES since I joined in with What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday (too much other stuff getting in the way) and I've missed snouting around other people's craft rooms and seeing what everyone else has been up to.

If you would like to find out what I'm going on about and maybe show the world what's on your workdesk this week, just pop into to Julia's Stamping Ground - everyone's welcome :o)

Here's my desk this morning, in readiness for a massive cutting and sticking session ...

The plan is to turn these old boxes into gorgeous Art Dolls, by covering them with paper from my husband's old school algebra textbook, throwing some paint and stuff about, adding some vintage images off Tinternet and sprinkling with various bits and bobs which are currently cluttering up my craft room.

I've also been making Really Tiny Things again, like these little vintage-style plates ...

I just printed some images I found online - there are loads out there, like this one which is all blue-and-white china, very pretty. Just search for something like vintage crockery printable. All of these in the picture below came from just one sheet which I printed onto lightweight card ...

Luckily I had a circle punch which fitted perfectly, then I shaped them a bit, using a ball tool, a soft mat and a circle stencil I've had since the Dark Ages. Usually I would finish them with a couple of coats of clear varnish, but I decided to try Crackle Accents this time, hoping to get that cracked glaze effect you often see on old china. It didn't quite work, but I still like them, and really they're so tiny it probably won't notice. Here's a close up including my small scissors for scale ...

That's me for this week - watch this space to see how I get on with the Art Dolls :o)

Thanks for popping in, see you at Julia's !!

Just when I thought I'd caught up with all your new ventures, you launch off onto another voyage of discovery. Your mind must have an extra set of firing axons and dendrites that jump across synapses when you are asleep. Superb tiny saucers and I look forward to seeing the next exciting reveal with the boxes.
OMG - those are made of paper? They really look like China plates! I didn't even know something like that existed! You're really are enjoying your miniature world, I can tell - and I can see the attraction too! Will be looking out for those art dolls - that's another thing I've never tried before. So full of inspiration! Glad you made WOYWW today Annie! I hope I didn't bully you into it LOL! You're in at #21 (my usual spot but I haven't prepared mine yet!) xx

Honestly Annie, you must have best pair of specs in the world..I'm really not sure I could cope with such tiny creativity. I think the crackle accents was inspired actually...I know the crackles are a little bit out of proportion, but people won't see that, they'll instantly see what I did ....old glazing, as suggested! Clever you, again! Have fun with the dolls from boxes...good grief.
