WOYWW #254

Hi Everyone,

It's another lovely sunshiney Wednesday so it's time to show you What's On My Workdesk today - if you would like to show us What's On Yours, or just check out what lots of other crafty peeps have on their workdesks today, pop over to Julia's Stamping Ground to join in and link up.

As you can see, I haven't unpacked my crop bag from the weekend yet, nor has my desk seen much activity since last Wednesday. But I did get those needle-top bottles from Amazon (as inspired by Mary Anne!) so I had a little five-minute play with them ...

Ok, so it doesn't look much here, but I think these are going to be great fun and very useful. So far I've tried three experiments -

  • PVA glue and water 2:1- in the photo above I've squiggled with it, let it dry then misted and wiped over, so it acted as a resist. It also still sticks really well at this dilution, so would be handy for adhering fiddly diecuts and such. Can't wait to try embossing powders and fine glitter.
  • Acrylic paint - I thinned this just very slightly with water, because I wanted it to add some texture to the paper, and it's worked well, in that it comes out of the needle tip easily and dries to a slightly shiny, very tactile 3D finish
  • My last experiment was to try to reuse a Viva Paper Pen which I had previously ruined by not cleaning the nozzle and getting in a terrible mess with it. It originally came with a very similar needle tip so I think it should work with a bit of perseverence.

Each time I've used the bottles, I've been clearing the nozzles with a piece of wire before capping them, and when I tried them again this morning after nearly a week, there was no messing about with blocked nozzles, not even with the glue, which is a real bonus.
Also, the tiny pots are handy for taking small amounts to crops ...

On the right of the picture you can see a bag of 50 tiny dropper bottles which I found on Amazon whilst looking for the needle tip bottles. I'm planning to fill these with various inks and paints and use them to create perfect splashes on my scrapbook pages ... that's my big idea anyway!

Finally, on the RH end of my desk is a sneaky peek of the prize I've put together for the March Challenge over at the SJ Crafts blog - the winner hasn't been announced yet ... I wonder who it will be ????? :o)

Well, that's more than enough rambling from me - see you over at Julia's Stamping Ground :o)
