WOYWW 272

Hi everyone,

It's What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday - time to nip over to Julia's Stamping Ground and link up to see what everyone has been up to this week.

Mine is a bit different this week, because I've been away for a weekend in Oxford with three of my dearest friends - chatting, eating, drinking, exploring, shopping and crafting - my kind of weekend!

We stayed in the Halls of Residence at the University - very reasonable and perfect for our needs. Each of us had our own room, but there was a shared kitchen with a table where we could all gather in the evenings.

So this was my workdesk this week ...

This was around 4.30, when we had just returned to our digs after spending a few hours exploring beautiful Oxford - as time went on, the coffee was replaced with wine, the cakes with more naughty nibbles, and the whole thing got much messier - but it was the best kind of mess :o)

I took along a new hobby to try - patchwork using "Foundation by the Yard". I had never used this method before, and we were all very impressed at how easy and quick it was ...

... none of that fiddling around cutting and pressing precise shapes before you start sewing, you just wade in and start stitching. It was perfect for a weekend like this, because it's so portable - you only need needle, thread, pins, scissors and as much fabric as you think you'll have time to work with. Also it doesn't take too much concentration, which is a distinct advantage if you're busy chatting, having a laugh and knocking back a glass of vino or three at the same time!

I'm going to do a separate post at some point about Foundation by the Yard because I think it's brilliant, but that's more than enough waffle for WOYWW!! I'm off to Julia's to link up and check out everyone else's creative spaces - see you there!

Annie :o)xxx

Oxford, friends, and wine...doesn't get much better than that. Have not heard of Foundation by the yard but it looks simple enough for me to try it. Looking forward to future posts. Diane #57

Sounds as if you had a wonderful weekend and the cakes from Patisserie Valerie are scrumptious, my daughter used to live in Oxford, so I remember the cakes.
Wine and friends as well, what more could you ask for, guess sleep was a bit missing, but fun and laughter and friendship make up for it for a few day.
That Foundation by the yard looks super, please do a special page about and we will all be doing it.
Bless you

Your crafting time away sounds so much fun. I must look up that method. Thank you for your visit. It certainly was fantastic at the Retreat, and Barbara is a brilliant teacher. Cannot wait for next year to do it all again. xxxx Maggie #20
