WOYWW #510 - Lost Weeks and Forget-me-Nots.

Hello Fellow Deskers and Bloggy Friends,

It's Wednesday, time to show us all What's On Your Workdesk - pop over to Julia's Stamping Ground to link up and see what everyone else has been up to this week.

Well, it's been a funny old week ... in fact it's all a bit of a blur now. It was my birthday last Thursday and I was spoiled rotten with lovely cards and presents from friends and family, but unfortunately I had also been given a really nasty virus infection - the gift that keeps on giving! :o)

I am on the mend now, but it really knocked me for six, so I've been signed off for a few more days to rest up and get properly back up on my feet. Last week I didn't feel like doing much at all, but I did manage some sofa crafting and got started on some crocheted forget-me-nots ...

The Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, where I work, is asking for people to knit or crochet forget-me-nots. These will become part of a community art project which will go on display in May to raise dementia awareness. I believe similar things are happening in other areas of the country, but here's a link if you would like to find out more about the NNUH project.

Mine are crocheted, it's a really easy pattern - after the first couple you don't even need to look at the pattern any more. You can see that I've braided the long ends of some of the flowers to make them into bookmarks. They also suggest turning them into things like brooches and hairlclips. I can't wait to see what they look like en masse as part of the community art work.

Here's a quick peek at my lovely birthday pressies ...

Zooming in on a couple of extra special items ...

The beautiful bag was hand made by my clever friend Trina, along with the custom lanyard; also handmade earrings and a gelli-printed feather from my sister; and from my DH, the "ArtyFartyAnnie" rubber stamp which I can't wait to use. He also gave me the very special bottle of Dutch gin at the back - he really does know the way to my heart <3

So that's me for this week, thanks from popping in today - see you at Julia's! :o)

Love Annie xxx

I think your birthday presents are indicative of how much you are known and loved by your nearest and dearest! Fantastic, especially the stamp and seeds :-). Happy belated birthday - sorry about the lurgy, you're doing the best thing by resting to get over it, it took me six weeks. The crochet flowers are lovely and for a great cause, well done you, the perfect crafting while you're recuperating.

Happy belated birthday Annie, and who would know you like 'Jenever'... some gal you are! The stamp is a one-in-a-million find from your hubby (or did he order a special-made-for-you stamp?) Love it! Hope the virus will leave you and stay away for a long time! Happy woyww and a big hug from stormy Holland. Marit #19

Hi Annie. A very happy belated birthday. You received some cracking presents - hope you are enjoying them... they tell me gin is very good for nasty viruses and such - best check with certain of our number! - but a little tipple as you begin to really recover and make more forget me knots surely can't do any harm???
Take care. God bless.

Belated happy returns Annie, hope the gin has helped chase down some of the bugs...as I’m late again, I hope too that the couple of extra days finds you feeling a whole lot better. The Forget Me Nots are so sweet, I will be asking at Mum’s care home this afternoon if they have anything planned...it’s likely that they do and that I’ve walked past a huge poster!

Sorry you had the lurgy for your Birthday, but you soldiered on making those divine little Forget me nots; they make my heart sing; not just the colour, but the idea behind them. Lovely and thoughful gifts always make a girl feel special. Get well soon.
